Q. Are foreigners who bring in their own Foreign Domestic Workers (FDWs) required to attend the FDW Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. Yes, it is a requirement to attend the Employers' Orientation Programme as long as the employer is a first-time employer of an Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) in Singapore.

Q. Can I get a refund if my Foreign Domestic Worker's (FDW's) work permit application is rejected after I have attended the Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. There will be no refund. However, your attendance for the Employers' Orientation Programme can be used for future Work Permit applications.

Q. Do sponsors have to attend the Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. Being a first-time employer, the legal employer is required to attend the Employers' Orientation Programme, even for sponsorship cases. The sponsor is required to attend the Employers' Orientation Programme under this circumstance if the first-time legal employer has a valid reason for not being able to attend the programme, e.g. physical disability, the sponsor is required to attend on the employer's behalf. The sponsor is not required to attend the Employers' Orientation Programme if the legal employer attends the programme or the sponsor or the spouse has a history of Foreign Domestic Worker employment.

Q. How can employers register for Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. First-time employers can register for the Employers' Orientation Programme (EOP) online. First-time employers should send their Foreign Domestic Workers Work Permit applications after completing the EOP.

Q. How do I obtain exemption from attending the Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. Employers who are invalid/ physically challenged and very elderly and unable to do the Online Employers' Orientation Programme (EOP) may apply for exemption from attending the EOP. However, relatives or friends of such employers are encouraged to attend the EOP on the employer's behalf and explain the key messages of the EOP to them.

Q. How much does it cost to attend the Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. It costs $20 to attend the Classroom Employers' Orientation Programme (EOP) and $30 for the Online Programme. This fee is to be borne by the employer.

Q. How will the Employers' Orientation Programme help employers and Foreign Domestic Workers (FDWs)?
A. The Employers' Orientation Programme aims to educate new employers on their roles and responsibilities towards their Foreign Domestic Workers (FDWs) and to inculcate a greater sense of respect and responsibility towards the FDWs working in their home. With this Orientation Programme, we hope that the first-time employers will have a better understanding of their legal obligations, roles and responsibilities, and be equipped with basic knowledge to develop and sustain a happy and productive working relationship with their FDWs.

Q. Must all first-time employers attend the Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. Employers with valid reasons for not attending the Employers' Orientation Programme, e.g. if they suffer from physical disability, may appeal to be exempted from the requirement. Employers may submit their application through our Online Exemption System.

Q. Must the spouse of the Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) employer attend Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. If either the legal employer or the spouse has a history of employing Foreign Domestic Workers (FDWs), they are not required to attend the Employers' Orientation Programme.

Q. What are the compulsory programs to attend for First-time Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) employers?
A. First-time Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) employers are required to attend the compulsory Employers' Orientation Programme. This program aims to educate employer on their legal obligations, rights and responsibilities and how to develop and sustain a positive working relationship with their FDW.

Q. What is the Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. The Employers' Orientation Programme (EOP) is a three-hour programme that provides first-time employers with information on employing a Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW). Employers will obtain a basic understanding of their role and responsibilities as employers. Guidelines on creating and maintaining a positive and productive working relationship with their FDW will also be shared.

Q. Where can I attend the Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. The Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Employers' Orientation Programme (EOP) is conducted by Singapore Polytechnic and Nation Employment Pte Ltd. Registration for EOP can be made online.

Q. Who can be a training provider for the Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Employers' Orientation Programme?
A. Training providers who apply to be Accredited Training Providers (ATPs) and meet Ministry of Manpower's (MOM) criteria under its Accredited Training Provider Scheme can be accredited ATPs for the Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Employers' Orientation Programme. Some of MOM's criteria under this Scheme are the training experience of trainers and the ability to provide the training facilities and materials according to MOM's requirements.
